The total amount of the first dam filling is about 1,500 square meters. In order to ensure the realization of the goal of comprehensive filling of the dam foundation pit, the project department attaches great importance, strictly deploys, scientifically organizes, strictly implements safety and quality responsibilities, and overcomes the external environment and epidemic prevention and control. Under unfavorable conditions, through the hard work and tenacious struggle of all project staff, Shuangjiangkou Hydropower Station has achieved another major milestone in the nearly 20-year construction peak period from planning to approval, from design to on-site construction.
As the world's tallest gravel earth core rockfill dam under construction, it has a dam height of 315 meters and a total filling volume of 45 million square meters. The entire power station is characterized by the "six characteristics of high altitude, high cold, high dam, high ground stress, high flow rate, and high slope". Known as "high", the power station has a normal water storage level of 2,500 meters, a total storage capacity of 2.897 billion cubic meters, a regulated storage capacity of 1.917 billion cubic meters, a total installed capacity of 2,000 megawatts, and a multi-year average power generation of 7.707 billion kilowatts/hour. After the completion of the entire power station, it will help improve the ecological demonstration zone in northwest Sichuan and accelerate the pace of poverty alleviation and prosperity in Tibetan areas. It will provide high-quality clean energy for the governance of Sichuan and the prosperity of Sichuan.
